About le CAB

Established in 1968, le Conseil des arts de la Baie (CAB) is a non-profit association with a mandate to promote and develop the arts in Clare, Nova Scotia. Le CAB, in collaboration with Atelier La Manivelle and Galerie Le Trécarré, supports the promotion of works in all disciplines through exhibitions, exchanges, workshops, conferences and artist residencies.

History

2021 - Management of the Art Sundays summer art market is transferred from Expo d’Art Saint-Bernard to le CAB.

2021 - Creation of the new MémoArt card game, a memory game that features 24 works of art from 24 Clare artists.

2019 - Launch of the Févri-Art art challenge, where artists are encouraged to create one piece of art per day during the month of February and share it in the Févri-Art Facebook group.

December 2012 - Expansion of La Manivelle, which includes a second classroom to accommodate larger groups.

2009 - Le CAB hosts the world exhibition "One World" - a collection of 48 printmakers from Canada, the United States, China and South Korea

2009 - Galerie Le Trécarré opens at the Rendez-Vous de la Baie Welcome Centre

2009 - Le CAB and La Manivelle become members of AGAVF (Association des groupes en Arts Visuels Francophone) and AARCA (Association of Artist-Run Centres from the Atlantic).

2007 - Le Courrier de la Nouvelle-Écosse begins publishing "La Chronique," a monthly informational column about le CAB.

2005 - Collaboration with the Municipality of Clare's Tourism Department in the creation of the "Art de la Baie" brochure - a guide to personal artist studios and galleries in the region.

2004 - Partnership with Le Courriel de la Nouvelle-Écosse, the only French-language newspaper in Nova Scotia.

2004 - Le CAB takes the necessary steps to become a nationally recognized arts centre with the opening of La Manivelle (printmaking studio) and the development of a strategic plan.
